The swimmer stands as a metaphor for today's society. He represents the person who swims his laps every day, measures himself, fights to then shine on a pedestal. Often one misses the last ladder to the exit and drifts in the undertow of the water into the distance, hoping to come across shallow water. Symbolic images for people who are overwhelmed and perhaps drowned by the flood of information in social media. Repetition and rigidity of the pictorial motifs are elementary components of these works. The transience of beauty and the decay of fame are thematized. The colors bronze, silver and gold represent the awards of the competitors' achievements.
